Home moves in North Zealand

Moving a home is rarely just furniture. It is the pictures off the wall, the routines, and a daily life that has to restart at a new address. We pack it carefully, drive it safely, and put it back together so you can breathe.

What a home move with us includes

A home move here is a complete service, not just transport. We wrap your furniture in blankets and film, carry it out properly, drive straight to the new address and reassemble it where you want it. We have been doing this for more than 125 years, so we know which way the sofa has to turn to get through the door and into the truck without a scratch.

We handle everything from one and two room flats to houses well over 200 square metres, and we bring the right equipment every time: furniture dollies, carrying straps, moving blankets and, when it is needed, our own furniture hoist.

Moving to or from Denmark

Most of our English-speaking customers are relocating into or out of the Copenhagen area, often on a work posting and often on a deadline set by someone else. That changes what matters: you need to know what it costs before you commit, you need it in writing, and you need to be able to ask questions in English at nine in the evening.

So we answer in English, we quote in writing, and we tell you the hourly rate before the day rather than after it. If you are moving out of Denmark and your new address is in Sweden, Norway or Germany, we drive there regularly and price the driving into the estimate from the start.

Why choose Holte Flytte- & Vognmandsforretning

We are a fourth-generation family business based in Birkerød. You talk to actual people who carry personal responsibility for the move going well. We do not subcontract the move itself: it is our own permanent crew, from the survey to the last piece of furniture.

We are members of Dansk Møbeltransport Forening (DMF) and DTL, and we follow the industry’s strictest rules on insurance, training and customer handling. That is part of why we are willing to put an hourly rate and an expected duration in writing before we turn up.

Where we move

We are based in Birkerød and cover the whole of North Zealand and greater Copenhagen. We drive regularly to Lyngby, Hørsholm, Hillerød, Helsingør, Farum, Allerød, Gentofte and Hellerup.

Because we run the whole move with our own crew, you have one point of contact the entire way. Book a move or call 45 42 00 40, and you will have a written quote within one working day.

How we work

Our process

From the first conversation to the last box in place. This is what a typical job looks like.

  1. 1. We talk about the job

You call or fill in the form. We ask a few specific questions about rooms, floors and anything unusual (a piano, an aquarium, artwork), and we agree on either a home visit or a thorough walkthrough by phone. You are answered in English.

  2. 2. You get a written estimate

We email you an estimate that states the hourly rate and the time we expect the job to take. Say yes and we book the date. You pay after the move, not before.

  3. 3. Moving day

We arrive at the agreed time, lay down floor protection, wrap the furniture and carry everything out properly. We drive straight to the new address and place the furniture where you want it.

  4. 4. We clear up and say thank you

Once everything is in place we take away the packing material, roll up the blankets and walk through any damage with you (it almost never happens). You pay afterwards by invoice or MobilePay.

FAQ

Questions about home moves

If your question is not here, you are always welcome to call.

Do your movers speak English?

Yes. Our office and our crews handle moves in English every month, for people relocating into and out of the Copenhagen area. Write or call and you will be answered in English.

What does a home move cost?

We bill by the hour, so you pay for the time the move actually takes, at a rate you are told before the day. What sets that rate is the volume of belongings, the access at both addresses, and anything that needs special handling. You always get a written estimate first, after a survey or a proper conversation.

How far in advance should I book?

Two to four weeks is comfortable for a standard home move. Summer and the days around the first of the month fill up faster. Urgent moves can often be done within two or three days, especially close to Birkerød.

Are my belongings insured during the move?

Yes. Every move runs on the terms of Dansk Møbeltransport Forening (DMF), and your belongings are fully insured through IF from the moment they leave the old address until they are in place at the new one. Damage is rare, and when it happens it is handled quickly and without bureaucracy.

Can you pack for me as well?

Yes. We pack kitchens, bathrooms, wardrobes and whole rooms, and we can unpack at the other end. Packing materials are included when you book packing with us. See our [packing service](/en/services/packing/).

What if the move takes longer than expected?

You pay for the hours we actually use, at the rate you already know. If we can see during the day that the job is bigger than we judged, we say so immediately so you can decide how to handle it. No hidden surcharges, no inflated invoice.

Can you handle stairs and narrow stairwells?

Yes, that is part of the job. We have set routines for high floors and tight stairwells. For genuinely large furniture we use our own 21 metre furniture hoist rather than carrying up four flights.
